I have a 97 4X4 with a 4.6. I am thinking about adding a chip but not sure of which one would be best for my situation. Everything on my truck is stock except for a K&N airfilter & 285/75/16 tires
I pull a boat and a four wheeler alot but I also have a 50 mile drive to work everyday. So I am looking for a chip that would add some pulling power but be fuel efficent when not towing something. Is there anything out there like that or am I wishing for to much. Thanks for any help!

 

The Diablo chip will give you that extra power, plus if you keep your foot out of the throttle, you should notice a 1-2 MPG increase. The only drawback is that to get the power, you will have to use premium fuel. I think expext a 8-10% power increase.

 

What is the difference betwwen a chip and a tuner? Which would be better?

 

tuner offers versatility- takes oem program from pcm via diagnostics port and uploads a new program- chip goes onto j-3 port on pcm and overrides factory program- chip is custom tuned and more power can be extracted from it
