Build date in VIN?
I don't know about the VIN, but I believe the build date is on the label in the door jamb.

Hmmm, well maybe not the day, but in the left hand upper corner of my label it sez:
Date 06/00
I always assumed this was the month and year that it was built.

Build date in VIN?
When I ordered and bought a new '87 Ford Ranger, there were some ink stamps on the frame, under the hood near the radiator with what I presume was the manufacturing date, IIRC, December 12, 1986. I'd guess that Ford could tell you those details from looking up the VIN in their records, but I've never heard of an exact date being part of that number.

The reason I was asking was because I wanted to know when my truck would be delivered. It hadn't come into the dealer at that point.
