Hello,
My 2WD 1988 F-250 4.9L won't start when it is hot. I have replaced the ignition module 3 times and I just replaced the starter engine for the 4th time. This started the day that I picked up my car from the mechanic after repairing my engine. I pretty much had all the parts replaced in it. I was told that the starter engine was burned due to overheating, and my problems started. My truck has a gas engine but I had a gaseous fuel system installed (it runs with gas like the one in our kitchen) Some opinions say that it might be the timing due to the increased octanes with this type of fuel; and that probably that is why it doesn't start when hot, but when I run my truck in gasoline it gives me the same problem. Battery is brand new. It tries to start, makes the starting noise like if it is going to, and like it has enough power, but it doesn't start. Please share your opinions and knowledge. (It starts very powerfully when it is cold)
Thank you
Yes, exactly!
It clears up for a while when I change the starter engine and then it starts getting worst and worst each day. I have replaced the module just because it burned a couple of times. The wiring on the battery gets extremely hot after a few attempts of starting the truck.
Same thing happened to me with my 90, I kept plowing through starters. Check / Replace the ground / Starter cable and Ignition Solenoid. I did that and haven't had a problem since
