Here's the codes:

P0713Transmission Fluid Temp. Sensor CKT High Input
I have a 97 e350 PSD 7.3
The e4od shifts hard between 2-3.
The tranny shop wants $250 for a new solenoid/brain
any ideas?

There is a reflash for the processor for the 97's that deals with shifting concerns, among other things. I would call your local dealer and ask about that before I had the tranny shop start replacing things, especially if it's just an overtemp code.
