I AM AMAZED ...........................
Today for a change it was a very mild day . No strong winds , actually almost dead calm . Sun shining etc etc . Temp about 40 degrees . My commute is approximately 35 miles to my office .
So I reset the trip computer that shows MPG and drove "conservatively" this morning , just keeping up with the morning commuters . (my usual driving is a little more aggressive)After reading about the Dura trans OverDrive controller , I thought I'd do my in town driving with OD off .
When I hit the highway (approximately 3.5 miles away I set the cruise to 70 turning almost exactly 1950 rpms . (OD on at this point ) About 1/2 way to the office , a State Trooper decided to slow all traffic down
to the exact speed limit of 65 , then down to 55 once in the city for the last 5 miles. (Where I normally do about 70 all the way
To make a long story short ........ DOOR TO DOOR I got 17.6mpg !!! :-staun
I know some might say BALONEY! but I kid you not . I didn't think the truck could do it .
This is not a V-8 vs V-10 thread of any kind and I am not trying to start any "Mileage wars". I am just in shock and felt the need to share it .
Has anyone else seen this , or did my mods work even better than I thought . I didn't head to a gas pump to confirm the EXACT # , but I have NEVER gotten this kind of number on the computer display . (Maybe I should drive with my boots off or get lighter shoes .
) Again I am not BS'ing ........... I'm in shock .

My best mileage was 15.9 mpg from the Sacramento area up to Yosemite with four people on board and about 400 pounds of stuff in the back. The last ~70 miles were uphill.
As always, YMMV

He made sure he was doing EXACTLY the speed limit , as cars kept piling up behind me .
Anyway I am still in shock . My normal driving habit gets me +/- 14 mpg per tank. and normally 15 1/2 on highway at 70 mph .
BTW what does YMMV mean ???

I had a 2001 F250 Crew Cab, 4x2, with a V10 and a manual. On one trip, with the truck empty except for two poeple, it did 17.9 MPG. This was all freeway at a constant 50 MPH. It was a 550 mile trip, and that was the average for the entire trip.
