Maybe my experience will help someone else down the road so here is how I set the timing and cam synchronizer on a new engine with no old synchronizer to reference.
1. I set the timing to top dead center and the 0* on the balancer was even with the cast tab on the front cover.
2. I used the blue cap tool from the kit, put it on the cam synchronizer and put it in at the 10:00 position if looking from the front of the engine to the rear. As it turned jut a bit it settled around the 11:00 position.
3. Then I replaced the cam sensor on top, plugged it in and hit the key. Truck started up and ran perfectly.
I think I, as a lot of people, seemed to over think this thing and tried to make it way more difficult than it really is. And with all of the conflicting information regarding 70*- 42*-15* and everything in between it got very confusing, for me anyway.
Please help me I cannot locate the camshaft position steak and eyes are on a 95 Ford
