We started the removal of the 5 spd OD transmission from a 1990 FORD F150, stick on the floor. The shifter attaches to the top of the transmission. It has a threaded bolt through it with nut on each side. I took the nuts off but I can't get the bolt out. It does seem to want to turn. I put the two nuts on one side to create a locking effect to try to back it out. Does this bolt thread out or do I need to press it out with a C-clamp?
i know my 93 manual transmision to get the shifter off you had to push it down and turn it... it looked like there were 2 pins that you pushed out but really all you did was push it down and turn it.. try that..
firsttimeford,
If it's an M5OD like mine, you need to take the nut from the left side off and tighten the bolt on the opposite side. Keep tightening the nut until the stud starts to pull away from the shifter. It's been a while since I did this so I may not be absolutly correct. I know that the stud pulls out as you tighten down on the bolt. HTH
