can anyone please identify this block number? it is from a 71 460 but that is all i know. the number in the subject was found above the starter. is there another #??

It has had a few changes since the original design.

Look for the actual day of casting on there as well.

3 or 4 digits ie: *4H9* or * 3C22 *

 

where would the other # be? What kind of changes? What year? anything else you could tell me ? is it a truck motor? thanks.

 

The casting numbers like this ,on the block are also up on the side near the others.

This casting will determine what year month & day it was cast therefore tell which year truck it was put in.

The V designation is for Lincoln.
It gets that because that was the car line it was designed for.
It was also used in T-Bird's, & Other large Mercs.

This numbering carries over to the trucks,.

An engine that was designed for a truck,the 3 rd digit
would be a T.

The change up are determined by the suffix >
I'm guessing with the amount of changes this block has been through I say it is a 77 or 78 engine.
