Has anyone replaced the block heater plug with a receptacle type connector at an easier access point? Finding the plug end in the bumper at night and then removing the cap is becoming a pain in the colder weather. The cable is also starting to wear through from being loose in the bumper. It would be great to have something at the front bumper like the plug receptacle for trailer wiring under the rear bumper.
There was a gut at ford-trucks.com that did that not too long ago. Look in the 6.0 forum and there is a similar post that gives the guy's name. Check it out, sounded pretty slick.
go down to your local big truck dealer ie(kenworth) and buy a receptacle like the ones used on semi's. i drilled a hole in the bumper of my 2000 f450 and put it right on the front. they have a lid and make it very easy to plug and unplug your cord. tom
I did one on my truck a while ago. Post is under block heater power cord blues. I used a waterproof receptacle box from the hardware store and modified an extension cord. No pics yet, but works great!
