I have eliminated the C-clip already by using an ARB. I don't think the TTB is that bad at all. I wouldn't change it for a solid d44. It's my daily driver and I like the TTB because it gives a better ride. I think it's almost as strong as the solid axle...I wouldn't waste my time putting a solid d44 in, if I were going to do it i'd go d60. I'm happy with the TTB so far...but I havn't been able to really beat the bag out of it yet.

the ttb sucks for a couple reasons....one....you cant beat on it hard without knocking it out of alignment, or bending drop brackets.....two it has hardly any aftermarket for axle shafts.....three..it has an extra u joint and slip shaft to break....

i know the solid 44 and the ttb can handle about the same amount of torque, but the solid has a huge aftermarket, and eliminates many of the weaknesses of the ttb...if you every spend any money on lifting or upgrading a ttb....your wasting your $$ unless you need to build something with major travel. for the 500-1000 bucks you spend on a ttb lift kit, you could easily swap in a dana 44 mono beam with the same lift....., or just save up about 500 more and do a 60 swap

i also diagree with the comment about the ride....ive driven and ridden in many mono beam d44 trucks that ride and handle just as well as the ttb, and you dont geet that crappy tire wear

for the money you would spend on getting custom one off axles made....you could buy a 60

i give up.....

Lift methods that use brackets are half arsed anyway . .
as to the extra axle shaft, they are shorter. Thats a long skinny sob on a straight Dana. I agree with the aftermarket. They only reason it exists for the straight is the Heep pandering. I run a 90 Bronco and an 97 F250 both of which have ttb fronts and alignment hasn't been a big deal. They aren't as impressive as my old 70 F100 with those big ol' king pins, but nothing is . . . plus I was young and fearless back then. As far as taking a beating, ttb CAN be modified to take a beating and go airborn. I'm not into the low flying personally . . . I don't have that kind a money to tear up a rig just to look cool for 5 minutes.

If your not building a rig to climb rocks or s super low crawler, or a high HP mud runner the 60 is over kill under a TTB Bronco. As far as the cost . . . it depends on how the 60 is done. A ghetto 60 costs the same as a ghetto ttb modification. Also, doing TTB right is a minimum of $1600 (I'm not talking SkyJacker or Cepek either). But then if you go with a 60 there is the Rock Jock. What I'm getting at is you can drop a wad on either. A specific built machine is going to get its butt kicked in the wrong terrain.

Good! So do I. Don't get me wrong, I like the D60. I would like a Rock Jock under front of a 69 F100 SWB with a stock 60 under the rear.

Maybe ryan50hrl will comment on his ride quality. I've talked to him before and he said the ride was a little rougher, but maybe he will explain/add comments (he did a ttb to solid swap recently if you don't already know).

I respect your opinion of thinking the monobeam is as good of a ride as the TTB, but drive mine and you may think otherwise. I believe it's just a physical thing, IFS will ride better than a solid axle. I don't totally agree with your comment on alignment either, I've bashed that thing a few times over some hard bumps and I've never had a problem wtih alignment, but to each his own

i had an 85 with stock 4 inch andd 6 inch skyajcker that i drove through highschool....it had the 44 ttb and it rode pretty well. if you run 6 inch springs or smaller in the monobeam....it is my experience the ride is almost identical....i have a few friends with rangers and f-150's down here at auburn that run the solid 44
and they either run bronco graveyard springs, or wildhorses 5.5 coils. they r soft.....

yall would be surprised how smooth my 79 rides now with my stock rear leaves(a few leaves added) up front.....soft as a stock f-150

The ride is not much of an issue for me unless is a 2000 mile trip or something, and I can't imagine that in the Bronco . . . they are talking $3/gal gas in Kalifphony right now. I'd like to get my **** back to Alabam or Arkansas right about now.
