I was baptised 7 years ago. We attend a small country church and they have their baptisms in a nearby river. It was the most awesome experience I have ever had. If you are getting baptised for the right reason, put your faith in God and you will not have any worries.
Mine was cold and backwards and I had to put my faith into the person trying to catch me and then lift me up again (260 pounds dry) with my arms crossed.
I am sure almost everyone can agree she is not going to drown with her husband five feet away. At the very worse she will get water in her nose. The irrational fear felt is the last step that can be taken to deter you. Reject it in the name of Jesus.
You are taking a leap of faith and submission, have her silently pray to God for calmness and strength.
My wife and I went to the baptism class yesterday and guess what. My 10 year old step-daughter is getting baptized with us! At first we thought it was because her mom was getting baptized but, after asking her about her decision to do this we found out otherwise. After seeing her daughter's enthusiasm and attnding the class, I think my wife will do all right at the baptism. There are 3 others getting baptized as well. A 15 year old girl and a boy and girl both in early 20's (my wife is 28 and I am 29). I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Well we did it. My wife, step-daughter, and I were baptized Sunday. What an awesome feeling that I can't explain. I was the first to step down into the WARM water wearing my white robe. There I stood with the pastor who was wearing fishing waders, lol. He introduced me and asked me if I knew Jesus as my savior. Without hesitation I said YES. I then held my nose and his wrist while he said "Because of your obedience to the command of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and upon your profession of faith in Him, I baptize you my brother int the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Buried with Him in death. (this is when he dunked me backward into the water) Raised with Him in ressurection (after he raised me back up). What an awesome feeling. I then went up the stairs and gave my wife who was next a hug.
My wife was a wreck all week. I thought she was going to back out. But she told me that as soon as her toe touched the water she was at peace. I feel that God is smiling down on my wife, step-daughter, and I and that we are drawn closer together.
I'm going out on a limb here in danger of "talking religion" but the next step would be to get involved with your congregation and "make them a good hand".
