'55 F100 dome light wiring
Bought the complete dome light wiring kit from Mid Fifty. Its supposed to turn on with the doors opening - the switch on the dome light turning on - or the head light switch turning on. Looks to me like you have to have the headlight switch on dome position to send power so the door switches or dome light switch will function. Is that how they worked back in the day ? I have the Ron Francis harness with new style headlight switch that provides ground when turned to the dome light position. Used the relay kit to make it provide power to match the original style harness. Think I will run the original harness to fuse box power and tap the headlight switch in by the dome light. Sound correct ?
Thanks for all input, Joe

I made my own harness. I mean how hard could it be? Actually, my first attempt was a total failure. The light stayed on all of the time. Basically, the switches only provide a positive 12 volt feed. The light receives it's ground through it's body. The 12 volts positive comes from the Headlight switch. There are two separate routes by which 12 volts can get to the bulb. One is directly from the headlight switch on through the light courtesy light switch. The other route feeds 12 volts to both door switches; if either door opens it completes the circuit directly to the light. Obviously, both of these routes converge prior to the bulb. This set up works fine for me. I'm not sure how the factory did it.
