I just traded my 98 Ranger for an '03 FX4 Level II and I am interested in adding in some of the mods that I had done to my old ranger, such as a Gibson Cat back, and an intake. What I want to know is, does anyone know if this stuff will void my warranty with Ford? and what about extended warranties? (I guess I should read the fine print!)
Also, what are your experiences with undercoating? worth it? not worth it?
I live in the northeast, cold, salt, snow, the works. Let me know your thoughts!
Only if they directly cause a failure so thats no to the exhaust and maybe if your MAF gets oil on it buts that not a big deal to clean yourself. There is a law that covers this topic, check out this Magnuson-Moss Act
If you plan to keep it, do the undercoating. It probably won't help the resale value too much, but at least it won't be a "rust bucket" when you do sell it. If you have already been driving it in a salt environment, you need to make sure that it gets cleaned (ie steam) before the undercoat is put on. Otherwise, you will just be trapping the salt and corrosion making things worse.
