electrical guage probs
well here it goes, i got gauges going everywhere... tach jumping up to 2000 at idle (improper) temp guage, volt also jump ... any ideas... havent put in on a scope yet ...so any initial help would be great as to where to start.... just put another engine in it as well... from a ford explorer 4.0... this started prior to the engine swap...

I'd check the noted ground and try to find where the cluster makes ground contact with the chassis. Often it's a wire with a lug that is screwed to the firewall or steering column structure under the dash somewhere. If you can get your hands on a wiring diagram it might help you locate this ground.
