What I mean is that it wont be near as loud with glasspacks and cats. I'V got a 75' Chevy pickup with headers and dual 3in exhast and 3in glasspacks all the way back, everyone thinks it stright pipes.

bebad96 yeah itll give it a little deeper sound coming out, plus a little louder.

Homer ah ok i gotcha now, yeah the cats act as mufflers and they quiet down everything. But he said straight pipes, which means no cats, or at least it should mean that anyway.

hmm strange how everyone elses truck is loud enough to wake the dead with glasspacks... and mine with the 302, no cat, and no mullfers was quiet as can be...

I can't think of any mufflers that actualy add noise..

My glasspacks get queiter once they get warmer, but still have a wonderful loud mellow tone between 900-2300 rpms, quiet down between 2400 and 3500 (unless I put my foot in it) then get louder and very smooth, like a true muscle car sounds, at 75MPH, never cackles, I don't like that anyway.

My setup: 88 f150 Ext cab 4x4 w/351w. No emmsions, cut before the first cat, head pipes to dual 2.5" pipe (8' long) to dual 28" cherry bombs (yeah, big kahonas) dumped at the axle with turn downs. All this on the passenger side of the truck. I love it! and I did it myself, (except for the $20 weld job to connect the 2" head pipes to the 2.5" tubing, Which I can do now that I bought a welder last saturday). I may have to post some pictures of it. It is very clean looking.

One regret, that I did not finish the exhuast out to the back of the truck. But, I can do that later( OH BOY, I COULD USE MY NEW WELDER!!!!). Right now, its clamp-together, but I will weld it solid here soon, the clamps are coming loose a little.

Just thought I would share,

later

My set up is true duals, no cats with 18 inch glasspacks going out at the corners with 12 inch long 3" chrome tips. When i start the truck, its got a nice low rumble. When cruising around u can tell i have pipes (1500 rpm). If i leave it in drive instead of over drive its a little louder and the rpms are up just a tad. When i stick my foot into it to show off or pass somebody that is when it wakes up the town. Whenever i stick my foot into it, u can probably hear me for a good mile and a half or more.

Oh and btw, im running a 302.
