i'm trying to make my f250 run...i charged a new battery and replaced the cap/rotor. i checked the plugs and they aren't fouled up. i tried starting it and i find out there isn't even any power goin to the distributor, or even to the coil.
could the ignition module be shot? its the stock box and the truck has 170k miles on it.
i just bought a module, plugs, cap/rotor, wires from advance...i'm putting all of that in tomorrow morning. i really hope it gets spark after i do that, b/c i got this truck for free and dont want to pour that much money into it.
ok...i just did a major tuneup on the '82. i replaced the cap/rotor, plugs, plug wires, and ignition module...i even used my msd coil to see if the coil in the truck is bad...
still no spark.
i'm getting frustrated on this truck b/c i want this truck to be a cheap truck to use and i dont feel like rebuilding the whole truck.
does anyone have any ideas on what can be wrong w/ it?
Try jumping 12 volts from the battery + to the coil +....if you can start it now you have a problem with the 12 volts from the igntion switch to the coil. If it still doesnt start....maybe a broken wire from the coil - to the ignition box...or a dead pickup coil in the distributor...or broken wires to the pickup coil.
Good luck.
thanks for all the help...i'm tearing into the steering column to get at the ignition switch...if its not that i'm going to replace the distributer i got from a '77 e100.
