the truck in my sig says that it has eec4 with feedback carb, but there is no "check engine light" so it may not be, i tried to use a voltmeter and set it up like the haynes book says but i just get 12v on the meter. Anyway,i am having many problems with it,i dont even know if the comp is actually doing anything other than timing, cause i watched the timing move when i rev the engine.
I know i have to get a different carb, intake cause i want a 4bbl, dizzy, ign box, wiring harness, setup egr on ported vacuem.
so my question is, if i convert down to a duraspark 2 system can i still pass emissions test?ohio's not very strict
i passed 2 yrs ago when the comp had no power to it, had several vac leaks, and some vac lines were misplaced.
If your original dist has no vacuum line going to it, then you have a computer.
If you convert it, and do a good job tuning it up, it will most likely pass. If they do a underhood visual, it may not pass. If you run the original aircleaner(which I strongly recommend for winter driving), and paint the aluminum manifold engine color, they may not notice.
And if you are going to run an aftermarket non-smog carb, it's up to you whether you want to run the egr. I personally would not. It won't hurt that much, but it's just something else to go wrong.
