My manager said that we get the oil from QuakerState and since she does all the ordering I assume that she knows what she is talking about. I may be wrong though, it may have recently changed over to another company.
I emailed Quaker State and they said they blend the oil according to Wal-Marts specifications and they bottle it for them too. The oil is a little bit lighter color than Quaker State and it doesn't have as strong of a smell. Lone_Ranger01 what do you think of the SuperTech?
I used the synthetic ST on a grand prix that I had and it worked fine. It sells like crazy, so I guess it can't be that bad. I'm sure it's about equal to any other dino oil and you definetely can't beat the price.

I just want to add that it would not be smart for Quaker State to tell you it was the same because then you would know to spend $.86 instead of $1.45. Unless someone does a chemical analysis or we get someone from the production end of Quaker State to spill what they know we will never be totally sure.
I know that wal-mart contracts with various refineries.
a few years ago I know Pennzoil was under contract with them.
got that info from a reliable source ( a wal-mart purchasing agent) who is a freind of mine, he no longer works for wally world.
So I you never really know who's oil your putting in your vehicles
when you buy store brands, that goes for all store brands.
weather it be a discount store or even NAPA auto parts.
as a matter of fact there's a local auto parts store here who's
store brand oil filter is made by WIX,and it's half the price of
a regular WIX filter . maybe it's a lower grade,

Yeah in my first email to them I asked if they bottled SuperTech and they replyed yes, so I sent them a second email which is below. In my second email to them I asked if they made the oil for Wal-Mart but they didn't say if it was Peak Performance or not. Here is my email to them and then Quaker State's reply -
When you say "Pennzoil Quaker State just bottles them for Walmart" do you mean you package Walmarts OWN oil formulation or put a Quaker State oil formulation in a Walmart brand bottle? It just seems to me that it is highly unlikely that Walmart is in the business of producing their own oil formulation and it seems more logical that Walmart has a major oil company such as Pennzoil-Quaker State package the major oil companys brand into the Walmart SuperTech bottle. Basicly does the Walmart SuperTech bottle contain Quaker State oil and not Walmarts OWN oil formulation. Thanks again.
Their reply -
Thank you for your interest in our Pennzoil-Quaker State products. We provide a service for Wal Mart by bottling oil for them. This is the Wal Mart brand Super Tech oil. For this service Wal Mart pays us a fee. We blend the oil to the specifications that Wal Mart provides us with and we in turn guarantee that the oil we bottle for Wal Mart will meet these specifications. We use the base stock oils that we have at our blending facilities to accomplish this task. We also use our additives necessary to meet the specifications set for us by Wal Mart. Sincerely Alen Hewson
I just want to add that personally I don't think the SuperTech is exactly the same as Quaker State Peak Performance because the other day I compared both of these side by side (also same grade 5W30) in equal amounts in glass jars and the ST is lighter in color and doesn't smell as strong as the Quaker State.
