I have never heard of them. They could be an offshore brand (just judging from the price. most manufacturers catbacks go for 280-350). You might want to use Google.com or any search engine and see if 'Goerlich muffler' gets any hits.

Goerlich's been around a long time.

I've used them in the past, but I'll never use one again. I went thru 3 of them in 5 years on my Ranger. They simply start to hole themselves and fall apart.
And I live in a state where they don't use salt or de-icer on the roads.
They were replaced under warranty, but I had to pay for the labor.

Anyone had experience with the Georlich torpedo pack? Goerlich used to be know as AP exhaust technologies. They were bought by Georlich and a little more than a year ago AP bought back the company. They are located in Goldsboro NC and have been is business around 85 years.

Goerlich has been around for a long time, they are currently owned by AP, which also owns Catco. They are descent in their standard economy muffler line. The Xlerator line is cheaply constructed and breaks apart internally. You get what you pay for.

Do you know ANYTHING about the AP torpedo pack? I have been TRYING to find information and a sound demonstration and only found one on youtube. It was an f150 with a 5.0. It sounded ok but I have a 5.8. From everythng I have read on this engine/exhaust setup, they are hard to get sound out of because of the twin cats. I hate cherrybomb glasspacks and that's what everyone tells me to use and I refuse to so there.

If you can't find anything on them what does that tell you? I went with the Magnaflow glass packs and have no complaints.

Goerlich muffler

I didn't say I couldn't find anything on them. I only said there wasn't but one youtube video demonstrating this particular muffler. There is plenty of written info on there website but I haven't talked with anyone that has actually used one. As long as AP/Georlich has been around I thought it would be easy to locate someone that had used them before.

AP / Goelich are a price based industry. They are giants, but the vast majority of what they make and what they specialize in is low cost price competitive standard type mufflers designed for stock replacement. This mentality of making things cheaply carries through to their other products, which is a large part of why you can't really find any information about them. No one inside the company cares, and no one is interested in using a glorified glasspack made by a company that is known to make inexpensive stuff. An AP torpedo pack is a glasspack, end of story. They sound like any other glasspack, and just the way it is.

Is their quality any better an a Cherrybomb? Doubtful. Cherrybomb is basically known for their glasspacks, so if you want a glasspack, why would you choose anything else?

AP torpedo pack

Although I agree with you that the torpedo pack is a glasspack and althought I haven't made up my mind about which muffler I'm going to use, they DON'T sound like any other glasspack, ESPECIALLY a CB. I have to disagree with you about the quality of cherrybomb glasspacks. THEY SUCK! They're light weight and don't last, they sound cheap and over time they ONLY get worse. My cousin used to have a '71 Chevy Caprice with a small block 400. He put CB glasspacks on it and didn't keep them a year. In less that a year, they got to where they clattered constantly and he finally took them off and said he'd NEVER put them on another vehicle. As I said earlier, cherrybomb glasspacks are cheap and they SUCK! Yes, the AP torpedo pack is a glasspack but it's a heavy, well built glasspack, made of out of stainless steel and in my opinion they have a deeper, throatier, more mellower sound very similiar to the original flowmaster 40. If you watch the video on youtube you'll know what I mean. And NO, I don't work for AP. I own a lawn business in NC and am just trying to get helpful, factual info about this particular muffler.

I agree, I would never put a glasspack on any of my vehicles. If you really want a glasspack type unit, I have used Yonaka ones. They are made in Japan, so they are better quality than the Chinese stuff. I have used them, though never alone, on one of my own cars to help keep the whole vehicle toned down as opposed to using a typical glasspack. I basically used them to replace the stock resonator. Here is a link to one. Brand New universal 3" RESONATOR STAINLESS STEEL 22" | eBay. This is cheaper than the Magnaflow one, which would be another good choice for what you are after. Both units are stainless steel, have well made internals, and are much higher quality than either Cherrybomb or AP. Both are true straight through perforated core, so no flow restrictions. Cherrybomb and AP, and most other glasspacks are louvered inside, which creates a lot of restriction to flow.

Georlich/AP muffler

I had the "AP" Torpedo pack installed on my truck last Friday. I went from bone Stock to a Y'ed glass pack of sorts and MAN what a difference. I did however leave the factory cats in place because I didn't want it to loud being that I go into upscale neighborhoods early in the morning to work.

It has a low, VERY throaty sound similar to a FM but deeper and cleaner with ABSOLUTELY NO deceleration clatter that most glass pack are known for. I can already tell it's getting a little better MPG too. I haven't crunched the numbers but if I had to guess I would say I've gone from just over 10 MPG to around 11.5 and maybe higher. Time will tell.

Georlich/AP muffler

Continuation of my last post. Crunched some MPG numbers on my truck today. With the stock factory set up at best I was getting 10.4/10.8 MPG pulling my equipment. Refueled this afternoon and checked the mileage. By going to a straight through SI/DO AP Torpedo pack my truck went from 10.4/10.8 to DRUM ROLE PLEASE..................14.8 MPG. I gained 4.2MPG while PULLING MY EQUIPMENT under the same exact driving conditions. YEA BABY!!!!

goerlich muffler

I have a 01 v-10 I just had the xlerator put on a coup;e weeks ago. Just replaced the stock original muffler. For a straight thru design muffler it is relatively quiet. I have not checked the mileage but the truck seems to run better and seems like the mileage is up a bit.
