it was minus 59 the other night had my 2002 f350 7.3l plugged in but didnt notice my block heater cord was broke , it cranked over a few times and the batteries just died , i tried boosting it and it almost went but no go, so i fixed the cord hooked up a battery charger and left it a couple hours, now i turn the key everything seems to light up and go through the sequence but now my starter is not cranking over ........any suggestions????
I am having the same problem with a F550 flatbed and I do not want to put a new starter in it if that is not the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, let us know, thanks.
It seems the starters on the Ford diesels are really sensitive to being overworked. They heat up internally and take a crap. I suppose it is considered parts sales security - decision of the manufacturer. There are aftermarket starters that seem to hold up much better and work better too.
Malcolm --- your thoughts here please.
