I may be in the market for a zf 5 speed. What are good donor trucks for 2wd. I have 78-F150 with a 4spd NP 435 right now. Will I need a different clutch system and bellhousing. Will this tranny hold up to moderate use and towing behind a stout 400?

It should work just fine. Get yourself a 460 transmission. I wanna say from the years 88-97. I can not confirm that but it is in the ballpark. Sorry, I'm a little tired right now.

There is a conversion for a 460 ZF to mechanical clutch, I'll have to dig up the link. The ZF came in S5-42 form from 87-95, and in S5-47 form from 96-97. Take a look in F250s and F350s. You can go to www.car-part.com to search your area. Durability should be fine with your setup.
