Do they have the same bell housing?
86 f150 with straight 6cyl 300
86 Mercury Cougar with 3.9l v6
What I've read is that they are both AOD. I have found replacement trannies on ebay and they list the tranny as working for 3.9l 300 302 etc.
My tranny is shot in the ford and I've found the Cougar for free.
