I own a 2004 6.0 that has a blown engine at 6400 miles. They've had the truck for 3 weeks and don't know when they're going to get it back to me. The dealer is trying to get it done but can't w/o the new engine. I have a vacation planned to the Daytona 500 for next week. I NEED the truck to tow the camper and they don't know if they will be able to help me. So I've got $36k in a truck that I can use and another $3k in race tickets that I may not be able to use if I can't get the truck back in time.
I had a problem once were the Dealer had my truck. I had a vacation planned and told them I needed my truck as I would need
the 4x4 were I was going.. They could not get me my truck back in time so the gave me another truck to use.
If they have had your truck for so long they should at least do that for you. I see why you want a ford rep. After three weeks!!! Dealers are independent from Ford. However they do represent Ford's name and Ford does act
on complants against dealers so they don't want you going to Ford. Have they offered to lend you a truck for your trip.? Or even offerd you a loan vehicle at all?
My dealer has been less then helpful. They did give me a Ranger to drive which is 4wd and handles the snow. Problem is my truck is an F-350 with the diesel engine and the Ranger won't even touch the trailer I'm pulling. they need to give me a 350 or an Excursion to handle it. I've pretty much been stonewalled by the Regional Office. I've left messages but I think I'm at a dead end again. We'll see.... PS - don't shop at the Ford Dealership in Poughkeepsie NY
OK so at 6400 miles the engine blew. The dealer can't get his hands on a new engine for you in at least 21 days now. Call FORD at their corporate number. Do not discuss with anyone at customer service ask for "Bill Ford, please. Or his Secretary." You will not get him but someone in his outer office will field this call. Now lay out the story
1.) spent 40K at ford
2.) added 10K elsewhere to that quality1 ford product
3.) defect in motor - these things happen -warranty item
4.) reasonable time to repair? 3 weeks and no light at the end is far from reasonable - dealer does not even have the parts on hand. Ford must have a few 6.0 at the kentucky plant, send one to the dealer.
5.) or give me back my money and pay me for my add ons and I'll go get a Chevy or Dodge
6.)Because I'm a hard working guy and I only get on vacation a year and this defective part is going to screw it up for me. and cost me more hard earned money.
1 800 customer service people are trained to put you off. You need to start at the top and let the SH** roll down hill cause its too hard to push up.
someone at the top will listen and take action. You have a reasonable complaint and really only want a fair outcome.
I called (313) 322-3000 and hit 0 twice. That put me in touch with the switch board. When I asked for Bill Ford I got silence on the other end. When I explained who I was I was sent to Executive Security. There I was forwarded to a "Special Liason" who took a good amount of info and will hopefully et back to me. We'll see. I give you this, calling big Bill certainly got me to someone who wanted to know what was going on......
Well good for you.
I had a situation with my 2000 350CC where it kept eating pinion seals in 10K to 20K miles. after 3 trips to the dealer under warranty it still let go at 49K. Dealer said sorry lets take it apart an try to find out whats wrong. Couldn't find any thing $400 please. I said no way call your rep. back and forth 3 days finally rep said ford would only pay part because I was not a "good customer" ie. I did my own service only showed up with problems. I told the dealer to eat the rest and they requested that I never return. (It was not a pretty scene). Any way 30K later it's leaking again. Now I cant go to that dealer, cant go to annother dealer unless I'm gonna pay cause they all use the same rep. So I started with the 1 800 idiots then went to Bill Ford Office and guess what??? the rear is now fixed. $0 out of pocket other than a few phone calls.
Now that you have an ear at the top stay on it.
PS if you have not done so start a log of every phone call and a list of names and numbers and times. Never know when you might need to call again.
Oh yeah, I've got some list and some log of calls. It's great when I can tell them what it says on thier computer screen when they open my file.
I've got a good way to handle issues where they want you to pay and you disagree. It's called American Express!!! Pay with the card and then dispute the charge when the bill comes. There is a Toyota dealer in Daytona, FL still looking for payment on an oil change that didn't get done in the 29 minute guarantee. If fact it took over one hour. They wouldn't give me the truck without paying so I did and promptly cancelled the payment. Needless to say I won.
