Any difference between Warn Premium manual locking hubs and the Superwinch (pt#: 400518) locking hubs?
From I can figure the superwinchs are cheaper in price because they don't need a conversion kit.
Does anyone had a problem with either one?
Any recommendations?
This is for a 1994 Bronco.
Warn premium=$125 (hub + kit)
Superwinch=$60
I don't really care about the money but if they both are comparable I'd rather save the extra $65.
Wow....I checked for both here and the Superwinches were more expensive. Warn premiums give a lifetime warranty, and you only need the conversion kit if you have the 3 bolt hubs. I havent tried Superwinch but haven't had a need to. Warns have been great and haven't failed me.
This is my first winter using my newly installed Warn premium manuals locking hubs, I think there great, work perfectly, spend the extra $60.00, I find it hard to beleive they throw in a converion kit for free, might be a miss print, check out this web page as you might need a conversation kit, theres a foot note on Bronco 94 and super winch locking hubs Super Winch
This is also my first winter with my Warn Premium Manual locking hubs. I don't remember what I paid for them, but they haven't failed me yet! I would spend the extra for the better hubs.. from what I recall it's a tougher design.
I highly recommend the Warn's since I've had both. The Superwinch lockouts did me good for awhile and then they failed on me in the worst spot, off-road playing in the sand. They didn't fail due to sand, they failed because they blew up. The dial locking mechanism crapped out on me so I replaced the Superwinch's with my current Warn Premium, picked them up at Advance Auto Parts for around $80. Best lockouts hands down. Read about them on Warn's website, it gives you all the technical info on the lockouts. The other guys are all right on about the 3 screw-cap needing the conversion kit. If it's 6 screw-cap just buy the lock-outs and your ready to go. Real easy to install as long as you have the right tools. I recommend and hook & pick set and snap-ring pliers! They are worth their weight in gold. Good luck.
Anyone have any experience with Mile Marker Supreme hubs?
I know of a bronco enthusiast that swears by these things.
He says, "Mile Markers make the Warn premiums look like tinker toys!" He says they are tougher.
Anyone else have an opinion?
