It really depends on what you want to do with the truck. If you want the truck to last without putting money in the tranny, stick with manual transmission. I know there's exceptions out there, but let's face it. Automatics cost more in the long run than manual's do. And they are less maintenance too.

Barts- I agree with ya. I have a 1991 f-150 with the 300 inline six with 243,000 miles and I have a manual tranny. I have a M5OD five speed with 243,000 miles on it as well. It hasnt given me a lick of problems or anything. It makes some noise now and then but I think that is just having alot of miles.
