HELLO, I OWN A '97 F150 (v6 4.2 liter) and i was wondering if anyone could help me out with a muffler question. I want to install a muffler that would give it a real nice deep tone to it. would anyone know what muffler does the trick? i could get a basic flowmaster muffler for 100 bucks but the guy says that its gonna make more noise than that deep tone i wanna get. could anyone help? thank u
I can't say to much because I went with the standard flowmaster, however, when I got mine installed the shop manager held up different mufflers while the vehicle was running and I could get a sense of what it would sound like. Revved it up real good to...rumble....rumble....rumble!!!
Sounds almost stock at idle and under smooth acceleration, but when you hit the gas it sounds nice and deep. Run a single in/dual out with big tips if you what it louder.
Well Ivan, you need to go check the Exhaust Systems section. You will find all the opionions you could ever want.
Flowmaster would be your last choice, in my opinion.

As long as all of the cat converters are on the truck, no muffler is going to be real loud. The converters quiet things down quite a bit.
I personally have 7 Flowmasters in all. 1 on my 2001 F150, 2 on my 77 F150, 2 on my 63 F150 and 2 on my 88 5.0 LX Stang.
I wouldn't change them for anything. They offer the best performance and sound. They also last a really long time!!!!
