Voltage meter going wacky
Tonight while I was out in my truck at a stop light the voltage meter was going wacky and the radio was going on and off (after market) while I had the heater fan on high with the hedlights on, but there was no change in RPM's. What do you think is going on? Is it the volage reg. thingie? Cause it's been doing it for a month but it starts up fine. Let me know what you all think. Thanks again.

Are the lights dimming out? You might be putting too much load on the alternator. do you have a system in the truck "IE: amps, speakers and such?"solunds like maybe when you are in Idle maybe the alternator isnot making enough revolutions to keep up with the demand of your electrical system or maybe your alternator/battery is maybe getting weak. My truck puts out 14.2 volts cruising unless I have the A/C , headlights and such on. And then it drops to about 13.1 volts in idle. do you have a way to check and see what your alternator is putting out with it in Idle?
