have an 88 b 2 with a 2.9 and i put the code reader on it because the engine light is on all the time or most of the time. the code that comes up is 67 only. But the explanations in the book do not match what the problem is for the truck.
the milage is 310,000 kms and has been well maintained as the milage suggests. I have changed the most obvious explanation ( o2 sensor ) but that doesnt shut off the light.
I also changed the throttle position sensor too.
every so often it will be running fine and then just up and die for no reason.
the ac hasn't worked for years so I don't know why that would start the check engine light now. As for the neutral safety switch, ya know i can't remember if its on the maunual and auto or just the auto or just the manual my mind is drawing a blank right now. But I will be looking into it tommorrow
thanks
ps does every category have a moderator I never see one in the areostar section It's like were all on our own over there lol
A KOEO hard fault code 67 is almost always a result of performing the KOEO test with the transmission in gear. Computer expects the transmission to be in neutral.
Are you doing the test correctly? If the check engine light is on while driving, there should be a code stored in continuous memory. Did you get the pass code (11) for the continuous memory portion?
If you doubt the instructions that came with your code reader, then check out Ken00's tech article post. He's posted some pages from his factory service manual that describe the self-diagnostic tests. Or look at www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
I've done the test a few times over the last couple of weeks and the 67 code is all that seems to come up. I will try again with the truck in neutral and see what comes up.
thanks for the help.
as for being a moderator for areostar. It is a big job I'm not qualified for yet.
