I have a steady leak in my cooling system that is proving difficult to locate. I don't have the time nor the inclination to lie on my driveway in the snow and 10 degree temperatures to look for the leak. So I keep filling it up. Usually about 1/4 gallon every three or four days. I buy whatever is closest to me, usually I am near a Walmart and I buy the premix. The premix saves me the hassle of finding a water supply, as usually you can't find a hose that isn't frozen or a spigot that isn't turned off. So, not having water to mix means using the premix. I guess I could buy water at the Walmart and mix it, but then I don't save any money!!
And no, I don't have a problem getting my hands dirty, it's the part about getting them dirty in the extreme cold and darkness. Come spring I will pressure test the system and get the leak fixed, but for now the premix is most convenient.
As a side note, it is far cheaper to buy coffee at the grocery and brew it at home, but 7-11 and Wawa, and others make a killing off their coffee. As stated above, convienence many times wins out over price!

Jeez Eric and I thought I was the only one that did that. Ummm does the little screen in the bottom of the funnel count as filtration? And I save a couple of old plugs and wires just in case and if I replace a hose that is supposed to be 1 foot I put in two feet to have some spare.

But I have had to use my 'save backs' from time to time.

I filter mine thru a rag over the funnel

I just hate to throw away good fluid that is being removed because of a repair.

Every one of my 3 ea 4.0L engines has a slow internal leak, probably a head gasket. They will probably stay leaking tho until I get rid of them.

One time I was at a gas station and I was looking around and I noticed a ONE LITRE (basically a quart) bottle of premixed engine coolant for $4.00! I showed it to my dad and he said we should get enough to flush the rad on his truck! We got a good laugh out of that!
