I was buying some coolant after i replaced my stat and flushed the system. I noticed some "quick fill". It was the same price as the regular coolant. So curious i looked to see what it was. It was a "prediluted" mixture of antifreeze. They took a half gallon of antifreeze and a half gallon of water, mixed it up, and sold it at the same price as a gallon of regular antifreeze.
whats next? pre-used oil? It is a new blend of fresh and old oil, that way its already broke in. Give me a break.
Funny what people will buy isn't it. The only time I have used the pre mixed is when my water pump went out on my car and I needed to top it off to get home(1 gallon). Otherwise, I just keep my old jugs, buy the full strength antifreeze and mix it myself at home.
Yeah thats what i did. Now i have two pre mixed jugs for th price of one. All you pay for is the convienence.
Just like 20 oz drinks are $1.19, and a 3 liter is $.99
Yea,It's cheaper to mix your own.On a cold day like up here today, with overnight wind chill factors down to -40to-50 you might want it a little heavier than the standard mix.
I use it for a top-off if I am not at home. Otherwise I mix my own. I have also been known to filter used AF and keep it for top-off applications. Now that is cheap...
I have a question. More people than not have said they top off. Isnt your coolant system closed, therefore shouldnt need toppped off? Where does it go?
