break ins

I own a 1998 F-150 and am starting to get CHOKED!! My truck has been broken into 3 times, all by some idiots popping the lock with a screwdriver on the passenger side door. I have an alarm an everything, but doesn't seem to deter these losers.

Obviously this is a common problem with this model, but does anybody know of some type of aftermarket company that may manufacture a special door handle that can prevent the locks being popped.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may respond.

Hi and welcome to FTE. I don't know exactly how the lock works but there must be someway to modify it so they can't do that.

I don't know the exact internet address, but there is a product made specially to prevent the door handle assembly from being popped off, it's called Jimi Jammer.

I got the jimmy jammers after my truck was broken into. I had a really tough time putting them in. One of the inside nuts that holds the door handle is really hard to get to. I learned the trick a little too late, but you have to remove the window rail that is in the way (with the window raised). I didn't actually do this, so be carefull if you do, I don't know if the window will fall down in the door? Good luck and hope you don't get broken into again, it sucks!!

I would not put anything on to secure the lock. Trust me if they can't break in the normal way they will smash the window or worse. Don't try to solve the problem try to prevent it. I know easier said than done, but maybe the solution is to leave the truck unlocked and keep all valubles out of it.

Every try a club type device

I was in Autozone Friday and saw some steering wheel locks. One looked like a minature baseball batt that attaches to the steering wheel edge. The other locks diagonally across the wheel. I guess the idea of both is to prevent the wheel from turning.

Anyone have any experiece good or bad with these devices?

it was a good ideal till the theives started carrying hacksaws or bolt cutters and just cut the steering wheel invest in a good alarm with a really loud ear peirceing siran mounted inside the truck and put in a secret kill switch , i like fuel line locks myself theres always the fake blood trick with a couple of empty shotgun shells laying in the blood next to the truck, it might give them second thoughts about breaking into your truck
