I have a 98 Explorer with the auto door locks, power locks and the keypad outside the truck. My driver side door will not unlock for some reason. I tried to unlock it with the key and got nothing. Cant get the power locks to pop the lock open either. The keypad will not unlock it either and my sister is getting tired of having to crawl over from the passenger seat to drive. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it open so I can fix the door?
I had an actuator go bad inside the door on my 99, but the key would still unlock it. Sounds like a piece of linkage has come loose in your door. wasn't too hard to remove panel.
Cant remove the panel unless you can get the door open. And I cant get the door open unless I can get the door to unlock. Cant get to door to unlock for some reason. Tried to pull up the lock but it doesnt seem to want to release.
Apologize for my reading skills. Wow, can u put window down and with a good lite and coathanger try to find offending mechanism and somehow release it?
Maybe I was thinking about having someone come and unlock to door for me because I have lockout insurance with my auto insurance so im gonna see if maybe they can get it open and once its open not shut the door again till I get the part in it.
My friendly Ford dealer drove about 3 blocks with a "slimjim" and unlocked my daughter's boyfriends Ranger after I called him(for free)after she locked keys in truck.
I'm having this problem too. A spring broke off from inside the door latch. Problem is I can't figure out how to pull the latch out of the door. I get the door apart, but all the metal bars that hold the lock parts in are impossible to remove.
