i knew it was going out cause it was making noises but i didnt think it was that bad si i figured a ride through the woods couldnt hurt anything as long as i was gentle with it!!!!
I don't know if a 205 will bolt up, but here is a few specs. They come with a female 31 spline input and the 6 bolt circular housing pattern. I know "this guy" who has a spare out of the truck. Let me know if you need any more specs, and I will look at it.
It looks like it was already cracked. Look at the bottom lower corner of the case. The aluminum is very dark looking. Looks like it's been broke for awhile from here.
That really sucks.....
What kind of tranny you running. Somebody here has to know where there is a 205 for the taking.
if he ain't interested in that 205....I will be willing to take it off your hands! what truck did it come out of and what tranny was it sitting behind?
I can get a 208 that just needs new bearings for $50 and then shipping....I will get it for you for what i pay for it! just lemme know!
What trans are you running?
If you're running a 4 speed, the transfer case adapter should have the shift rail notch cut in it, and the 205 will bolt on.
As for the shifter, you are going to need a 205 shifter, your 208 shifter won't even come close to working.
And, you may have to do something with your driveshafts.
Also, I REALLY hope you have a truck 4 speed, that 1.91:1 low range is really gonna suck without granny low.
Fishmanndotcom, it came from behind a 4 speed t18. I bought the t18/205 combo to convert my truck, but already had a 205 from a parts truck that was from behind a c6. I had a 2wd t18, and really liked it, so went with the same. I took my rebuilt 205 ( the one from the auto) and put it behind the 4x4 t18 after I worked it over. The 205 is the same for the manual and the auto. I have the shifter and linkage, and there is nothing different between even that part.
Bearfoot25, he is right about the notch, but even if there isn't one, you can do that easy enough. The c6 I took my 205 from was home-brew notched, and it worked.
To recap, the spare case is from behind a t18, but will fit an auto also. Ted
