Right after christmas i took my tuck in for a oil change and since then my fuel economy has dropped and i cant seem to smoke the tires. I know that is a funny way to judge the power but it is true.
I did not ask for the flash but im wondering if they might have done it anyway. Since then i have also noticed a increase in the smoke when i first start up the truck!! Can anyone tell me if there is a way to check for sure without calling ford!!!!
Closely check out your copy of the work order given to you, after the work was done. It is on that copy in which the technician will write his comments as to what he did. Also, from my understanding, the copy you signed, and given back to you, will state exactly what work was to be effected (done) on your truck.
As a side note, I'd love to get a copy of a work order -- preferably a blank one, to review. I'm assuming that all of the dealers use the same "boiler plate" formed work order/contract.
My guess is that they probably did. I found that you need to read these forums before going to a Ford dealer. I know that there was a bulletin out for a free oil change if you got your 2003 flashed. Did you pay for the oil change??
I know that there was a bulletin out for a free oil change if you got your 2003 flashed....
Keep in mind, it would not be unreasonable for an individual to develop the perception that this "free Oil Change" is simply to get the truck owners into the dealerships, to also reflash the truck. An effort to minimize the problems Ford has been having with the 6.0L engine trucks
Sounds like you got it..... mine would slam you into the seat before it was flashed and after.... well junk would be a compliment. Just to give you an idea, I have to stand on the accelerator to break the tires loose on wet pavement. The fuel mileage is also down 2-3 mpg not to mention the increased engine noise and vibrations. Luckily for me I've been offered a replacement since it's spent more than 30 days in the shop since my purchase in August. Right now I'm fighting to get a full refund and I'll go to the DSB if necessary.
Sorry to give you the bad news. I've complained about mine since October when it was flashed and they just say everything is normal. I guess that would mean the truck was abnormal when I purchased it.
Good luck. Believe me I know how frustrating it can be.
I would love to see FoMoCo lose their rear in a class action if anyone ever starts the process. They are doing nothing but taking advantage of their loyal customers and it will cost them in the end.
