I need HELP,
I have a 1983 Ford F100 with a Long 6 cylinder. I have put on a MSD 6A and want to put on a Mallory duel point distributor part # 2763101 (Gap?____, Dwell?_____. The Q. is, what is the gray box about 5” x 5” on the fender? And what does it do? Can I replace it? Is it a Module to work with the current distributor?
This duraspark II box is for the current solid-state ignition system and Distributor? I want to put the Mallory duel point Distributor for now, and then change out the points for the Mallory Una-light.
Do I need or can I remove the Duraspark II box? I have heard these go out a lot, and what do they do anyway?
Thanks,
Chris
ford83,
I just switched from tfi distributor to duraspark II in my 85 f-150 w 4.9. I agree with Paulfix and oscar mier the durasprk II is hard to beat. I also changed to 2.5" exhaust with turboflow muffler,it raised gas milage from 15-16 to 18 -20 mpg with the np435 4 speed.
