e4od electric problem?

my father has a 95 f350drw psd. this past summer took a trip from wisconsin to south carolina to pick up a 69 torino cobra, pulled a empty car trailer(3000 lbs). about 500 mile into the trip the light on the auto tranny shifter started flashing.pulled of the interstate, read the owners maunal, it said the trans sensed a problem and went into a fail safe mode. shut the truck off and it reset it back to normal. 100 miles or so it did it again.now this happened 4-5 time even with the car on it.always in od at 65-70 mph. got home had the trans flushed(looked good)and replaced the VSS? on the rear dif.thought this would take care of it.just took another trip and the same thing happened again. we are out of idea. searched the site and found simalar problems. what give?jack k

Sounds like your torque converter may be going out. However this just happened to me and it was the exciter(or tone) ring in the rear end. They don't usually crap out by them selves but mine did. That will give you fits AND braking problems.

There are about 50 things that could go wrong and flash the light. Either replace the whole truck or get the codes read. The computer stored a code when the light flashed. It's still in memory.

Replacing parts when you don't even know what the problem is just wastes money.
