Head gasket leaking
I just found oil comeing from the back of the pass side head on my 99 Superduty 5.4.I cant belive it,only has 48000 miles on it.Any one else had this prob?

Go see a dealer ,this was a nationally known problem. Some engines were replaced due to casting problems and the gaskets couldn't seal.
I don't remember the specifis on mileage or the waranty aspect of this.
Someone else might pipe in hear with more info

Tsb = Technical Service Bulletin from Ford
Go to the dealer ,they have a special gasket to use on the head to try and seal it
If I rember mileage wasn't a concern ,because this was a nationally known problem

Hey Jacked99, I have the exact same problem. My 5.4 has 80k but it has been leaking for a while. It has recently gotten worse though. Don't know what I am going to do exactly, as the truck is out of warranty. There is an extensive post on this very subject, maybe someone could point you to it. Try a search on head gaskets... KP

Well I got hold of the dealer I got my truck from today and told them the prob and they said sorry your out of luck,cause I am over my mileage.I got a little upset about it and said how would you like if I drove my Superduty and the Lightning my parents just bought from them threw there show room to get there attention and the man tell's me to hold on.The other manager comes over and say's they could go 50/50 with me,that dosent help me at all cause Im a mechanic and can do the work myself so I would still be paying out the but on labor and parts if they did it.So I did a check on the prob and found out that there are metal shaveings that were left on the surface of the head and or the block so the gasket dosen't seat correct.Im contacting other dealer's about the prob to see if I have away out of this or if Im screwed.I also did a serch on the gasket leak some of you told me about and got alot of info from there.Thank's
