New Shocks When?

I purchased my truck new in May 1998 F150 4.6L 2WD Lariat Ext Cab. It has 117,000 miles on it but they are all smooth paved road miles and the truck rides nicely. I do take care of it and thought it might be time for shocks. I don't have any problems with the orignal ones but I like to keep up with regular maintence items. They are not leaking either. I would be interested in any comments you might have. Should I change them?

Yes. With 117,000 miles...you should replace the shocks. Remember, you might think they are fine, but when you replace them...you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Just like anything...time and mileage should be a key factor when replacing the shocks.

Has anyone have already tried Monroe or Gabriel shocks? Would you recommend them? If not, which one would you recommend, Bilstein or Rancho?

Not even a real comparison...go with the Bilstein.
