Krawlers are for rocks. They have a soft compound like a Bogger and won't last squat on-road. The only reason to buy them is if you stick with rock crawling. Hawgs do "okay" in the mud (read: better than bfg m/ts but not as good as swampers) but do actually wear awesome on the asphalt. Easily the best wearing of the big bias tires.
dream rig...mine with a Dana 60 upfront....and maybe some adda leafs.(or custom)........and thats it for me maybe a couple engine mods..........(1970 F-250 4x4 highboy 390FE DN44hd front DN60 rear front manaul locks rear locker...36's) .............. oh and a winch got have a winch.....but i better keep dreaming all i realy want is a 60 up front with disc's
i was actually kind of serious Pro....they pull almost as good going bassackwards! I dunno if boggers would pull that hard. Guess 'Ho and I could find out one weekend
my dream rig is almost done. i started out w\ a bone stock 1975 f250 with 43000miles on the ticker. threw a high pinion d60 under the front to match the d60 out back. its already pretty stout with the np435 and np205 t-case. next thing to do is throw a 460 under the hood, get a set of boggers, lockers, and tow hooks. after i get the boggers, lockers, and hooks, ill worry about doin body work, i dont wanna thrash a truck that i got a few thousand into the body
My dream rig is the truck I have now, with some things added: 4wd (but I want to keep the truck's stance the way it is, not any higher), 31/12.5/15's, 400hp 351w(20mpg) with dual stacks instead of the one I have with my 6 banger, 3.73's. and a C6 with Overdrive unit on the back.
Oh, and one more thing, to get rid of all the rust. Anything else I could add?
Well, its good to hear a glowing report Fishy. I was a little dubious if they'd do even as good as a Swamper after looking at the tread design, but of course had no real world experience with them. Maybe when my "street" tires (swampers) wear out I'll give a set of their 49's a whirl
maybe i shoudl try that hole out this weekend and report the results (after i put my new big fat pushrods in and button up the top end) of the 44 tsls
then after i wash it i can work on my next step closer to my dream rig
im pushing the front axle foward with some softer springs, losing my rear 2 inch block and extra 4 leaves, cutting my front bumper similar to fishman's, and hacking my fenders more as needed
i should be down to about 4inches of lift with 44's, and have a half way smooth ride
my cutt 39 boggers r sold, so i cant try them in that thar hole
lol its not so much the fenders that are the prob right now, but the tires like to kiss the body mounts on the frame, thats why im moving the front axle foward
its been sitting back at home with the v-covers off cause i bent my old 5/16 chromo pushrods, it sjust waiting for me to slap in the new 3/8 rods and plates
my truck has changed alot since we rolled, its about 3 inche lower, and hopfully after this weekend itl be 5....i really need to get fishman to let me borrow his dig cam to get some update dpics of my truck, with the 44's, kubota orange paint and winch and so on and on
i do but not much....they have infinite amounts of info on their site...just gotta know where to look. i read most of the time, but sometimes i will get a wild hair and post!
