Need help installing brake controller

I am trying to install a Tekonsha Envoy brake controller from my old '02 GMC Sierra into my new 2004 F250 SD/diesel. The controller wiring instruction lists "white to Batt (-)", "blue to trailer connector", "red to stoplight switch", and "black to Batt (+)".
The Ford connector pigtail lists "brown to illumination", "dark blue to trailer electric brake feed", "red to trailer brake control feed", "white to ground", and "Lt green to to stop lamp feed to brake control". So far I have figured out that "white" goes to "white". I really don't want to take a chance on frying my controller, and have not gotten a reply to my request for help from Tekonsha. Anybody know which wires connect where?

The blue wire is a signal for actuating the brakes
It should go to both the Dark Blue & Red wires

The Lt green is to turn on the brake lights.
The Red controller wire goes to the Lt Green wire to turn the brake LIGHTS on.

Black wire to Battery +post .

Maybe Sparky & Franklin will be by to confirm.

There is also a plug under the dash that you can plug a controler into with the kit that comes with the truck. Just wire up the controler to the plug in the kit, then plug into the dash plug.

"The Ford connector pigtail lists ......."

Is this pigtail under the dash or at the back of the truck? The reason I ask is the "brown for illumination" has nothing to do with the brake controller, an would be at the back of the truck.

If you are going to have to wire the controller up front yourself, that will be easy and we can help you. If you are trying to use Ford's "tow package" wiring, it will take a little figuring. I have an older diagram of the Ford wiring for the controller under the dash, but it doesn't jive with some of the wires you are calling out(thus the question of where are you looking at the Ford wires).

My diagram shows;

Under the dash:

Yellow-12 volt power all the time.

lightblue/black-power out to the trailer plug for the electric brakes.

red/lightgreen-power out to the trailer plug for the brake lamps.

Looking at the wiring diagram for my brake controller, I would have no use for the red/lightgreen provided by Ford. On my brake controller, you have to run a wire from the brake pedal switch wire, to the controller red wire, and I don't see this in the Ford towing harness.

In the rear plug of the towing harness, they have;

lightgreen/orange-lefthand stop turn

orange/lightblue-righthand stop turn

black-trailer running/marker lamps(this would be brown if you didn't have trailer tow package wiring)

lightblue/black-trailer electric brakes

red/lightgreen-trailer stop lights(this is the one would not use)

yellow-trailer 12 aux battery power feed

black/pink-trailer back-up lights

white-trailer ground

The truck came with a towing package and the previous owner had a B&W Hitch in the bed that they removed but I just replaced with the same type hitch. The rear is prewired and has the RV plug as well as a standard 4 prong plug. I just need to know the c(B) CORRECT (B) location to attatch the Trailer illumination and trailer brake lights on the factory plug I picked up at FORD. I understand how the Brake Controller connects I just need to find out if the lights need to be connected and where. I have no intentions of just picking the correct wires and splicing into them if there is a connection that exists somewhere for these 2 wires in the plug. I Know where the plug goes beside the right knee of the driver above the trans tunnel as well! I have the Ford Harness for the controller to the prewired plug just need to know about the illumination wires!

The only illumination wires provided by Ford(that I know of) are provided at the rear bumper area, and are in the lower list above.

Well the wires actually begin in the dash area. They are controlled by the light switch. When you turn on the parking lights the ILLUMINATION ( driving ) lights on the truck as well as the trailer come on!

I should have also stated this is an electonic controller not one that connects to the hydraulic system.

LOL well maybe I should have given you a little back ground on myself.

I used to own my own business in the early 80's to Mid 90's that I shut down because of the EX wife. To make it as brief as possible as to what I did I will put it this way. I was ASE Certified Tech ( did Mechanic work ) , had a frame machine, did paint and body as well as rebuild wrecks, and bought and sold Autos. I now run the Maint Dept where I work and am a licensed Electrician.

I just did not have any mauals at all with this vehicle and was wanting to make sure everything worked when I got finished. I did not want to have to splice into any wiring and wanted a neat job. I just wanted to have to go under the dash once.

Since my last post I took the time to plug in my trailer and found that the lights already work so I went to my friends and verified the same on his RV thru the RV connector. I found that the wire labeled Stop lights was to feed the stop light circuit to the controller ( output ) and not what I thought was used to feed the trailer itself ( input ).

As stated the illumination wire is also a feed from the factory harness to certain controllers to show the lights are operative or to illuminate it when the lights are on.

Thank everyone for all their info but I guess all it took was the time to plug in the trailer and see if the lights actually worked prior to installing the controller.

Thanx again for all the very fast responses!
