i have a 87 bronco with a 302 i want to get some headers but
theres so many choices money isnt a matter here can all of you's give me your picks i want to get the most performance out of them in hp and torque
I installed the shorty style truck headers from www.Summitracing.com and I am very pleased with how they sound and the better throttle response. They were $159.99.
These smog-legal headers can give you up to 15 extra horsepower and significant torque increases in the 1,500 to 3,500 rpm range. They feature 16-gauge tubing and extra thick 3/8 in. flanges for longer service life. All the gaskets and hardware are included to make installation as easy as possible.
Sold as a kit.
They meet emissions standards which will soon be enforced if not already in your area. They also bolt right up to your existing exhaust. I did have to remove the inner fender wells to get to the exhaust manifolds.
I got JBA part #1667 for 96 5.0L. Bolted right up and lined up perfectly with my stock Y pipe. That particular part # will not work for you, as 1996 was the only year that Ford got the bright idea to put the O2 sensor bungs in the exhaust manifold instead of the pipe.
They have a set for 95 and earlier 5.0, I just cannot remember what the part number is. Go to their website and you will find it. If I remember right the part # was only one digit off from the one for my truck.
The only problem with the Summit headers is that they only come painted. You could buy them then send them out to be coated if you wanted to. You might still come out cheaper than JBA or Gibson, but they don't have a lifetime warranty.
I probably would have bought Gibson if the option had been available to me. Gibson does not make shorty headers for the 96 5.0L because of the O2 sensor thing. Since it was the only year and engine that was configured that way, they said the production was not cost effective.

Im thinking of getting headers for my 94 5.8, don't want to spend a bunch, but don't want problems, any suggestions? Looking at Summit's brand and the JBA, but don't know yet.
I would not say that Summit headers are "just as good" as Gibson or JBA. Both Gibson and JBA put a lot of time and technology into designing and tuning headers for specific applications. Exhaust is what they do, and that is all that they do. If you are having chest pains would you rather have a Cardiologist check you out, or a general practitioner?
In defense of Summit however, they do not make a habit of selling crap. They have a well earned reputation in selling quality performance products. If budget is a significant issue, go with Summit. Just make sure that you either have the headers coated, or plan on replacing them a couple of years down the line. The paint on any painted header will burn off almost immediately. That significantly reduces the lifespan of the header, and they look pretty nasty after a very short time.
I haven't heard any comments on Bassani headers, but if their headers are the same quality and design as the rest of their exhaust products (which they probably are) then they should be top of the line. Bassani tends to be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
i looked at www.truckperformance.com the jba headers are more than the bassani headers but they have a hp gain and torquechart the bassani headers show 10-12 hp gain and 15 in torque while the jba headers has a 15-20 hp gain and 26 in torque gain
I have heard that headers on broncos give you nothing but overheating problems. Is this true? I would like to get some for my Bronco but here in vegas it can reach up to 115 or higher in the summer and I still want to turn on the A/C without worrying about overheating.
