That is a great site!! Was browsing around and E-Mailed them to see how much it would cost to coat them. Thanks for the link crazed87!! And do the Headers increase the sound?? How would they sound with Flowmaster 3" cat-back already installed?
just got my summit headers today for my bronco, and low and behold, they are made by pacesetter. I don't have a picture, but the quality of these are top notch. They have a thick 3/8 flange, and the the tubes are welded to the flange around the outside of the tube then machined flat. There is no intrusion of the weld into the tube. I had a pair of MAC 351 conversion headers for my capri, and compared to these, the Macs are junk. Also they do come with all the hardware needed, thick gaskets, header bolts, downpipe bolts, and O2 bung plugs, which are in the header. I have not put them on yet, and am in the process stripping them to paint them with the 1500 degree ceramic paint. Point being, for $160 I am extremely impressed, and so far highly recomend.
I used that gooey automotive paint stripper to take the original paint off, and will try using the high temp spray can stuff from Schucks. Give me about a week and I will know well it holds up.
Finally got to install my summit (pacesetter) headers, and did not go well. First, the #7 tube slightly covers the rear bolt hole for that cylinder, and I had to grind on the hole and beat on the tube just to get the header bolt in the hole. Next, I was finally all done, 1 in the morning, everything bolted up, fire it up and massive exhaust leaks from both sides. after tearing the ypipe back off the collector, I found out that the collector is bigger in diameter than the stock y-pipes are!! I am supposed to go get a truck on my trailer tomarrow, So I will have to go to a muffler shop and get it fixed first thing. I called summit and their first response was to send them back and they will send me some more. I told them that was not an option, so I need to call back and talk to a manager during the day. I will follow up with how they handle this.
if money isnt a problem then go with the jba ceramic headers they will help cool down the engine and gives you more hp and torque, i just got the chrome (which turn purple) jba headers and those work great, but if i had the extra $150 i would have gone with the ceramic
i was looking for a decent price and i started talking to this guy who had a 95 bronco. he told me when he got headers, it was hard for him to get to his spark plugs and had a lot of problems. so i went to www.truckperformance.com (someone recomended) and then i called the people from that site and they told me jba headers fit good and theres no trouble putting them on and working around the sparkplugs, they also ship it out the next day. i ordered the headers and put them on easely, but i had my engine out because i was rebuilding it, so i dont know how hard it would be to put them in under the hood, but i'd go with the jba, hope this helps
everything i did to my truck was when i rebuilt it, before i rebuilt it there was 400k on the engine so there was very little power and a lot of things were going wrong, now i feel a huge difference in power but i cant tell you exactly how much, im gonna start lookin to get it dynoed soon though, sorry i cant really help
I saw some Edelbrock headers and was not impressed. he outside finish and welds looked nice, but they had big weld blobs in the collector areas. They'd need some grinder work there.
I also bought the JBA chrome headers and installed them on my Bronco. Much like xKirkx, I would have bought the ceramic if I had it to do over again. Aside from that, the JBAs were perfect. Bolted right up with no issues whatsoever. Plenty of room for spark plugs and boots, no clearance issues at all. Perfect fit with factory Y pipe. Been running with them for two years now and still leak free.
In my experience, and listening to all the problems others have had with other brands, JBA is the way to go.
