Nascar always has to change some rule, then the next time they're back at the same track the rules have changed again. What they have done w/ the pts system should guarantee no more runaway boring seasons. No I am not putting down the 17 crew. They did what they were supposed to do, but how many of you actually watched the last 10 races from start to finish. Think more fans will tune in this year for the last 10? They changed it so they would not lose viewers. Have they done it right? Ask me after the seasons over.
The races i find that get boring are tha restrictor plate races. It's usually the same racers running up front.Even though I'm a Roush fan,I like to see the underdog up in front of all those muli-car teams.Toward the end of the season, when I realize my favorite driver isn't going to finish in the top ten in points,it does seem to take a little excitement out of it.I think Ryan Newman is going to be one of the three top drivers to take the championship this year.I'm just not cheering for him is all. lol.

Real racers turn left...AND RIGHT!
NASCAR does have 2 road courses and Pocono is almost a road course. I like all racing. Before Speedweek starts in Daytona they have the 24 Hours of Daytona. I'll be in Daytona for both.
I understand that NASCAR has called a press conference and will announce the new rules for the points championship tomorrow morning (tuesday). I'll wait and see exactly what they are planning to do.
I will say NASCAR has been very successful (fastest growing sport and only behind the NFL in TV ratings). If the rule changes don't work out, they can always change them back. The important thing is that all teams know the rules well before they fire the engines for Daytona qualifying. You plan a strategy, and if you win the points, you get a check for $5 million. Simple.
Rusty may need to think about retirement. His teammate killed them with the same equipment that Rusty had.
Early practice at Daytona had the Fords running better.
I've been a fan of Rusty Wallace since he drove a Pontiac... and before that, I was a fan of Richard Petty, of David Pearson, of Cale Yarborough... you get the idea. I'm a HUGE fan of the Craftsman Truck Series... Go Terry Cook! I am planning on going to about six races this year.
As for the "playoffs"... I don't like it. The points system was set up to reward consistency, and it works fine. My thinking is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. In my opinion, it's just a case of the new sponsor wanting to make a change simply for the sake of making changes.
