Something I have always wondered and Im sure somebody here would know. What base engine blocks does Nascar use in there cars. Are they actually "Ford, Chevy, Dodge" or just a base block. Does anybody know?

I am not a huge NASCAR fan, but from my understanding they all use their 350/351 blocks. As far as Dodge goes I think they use their 360. I asked a co-worker and he gave me a thumbs up on this. He's a NASCAR nut.

Hmmm, now does Ford use the 351W, C, or M?

You have to use what you are currently running in manufacturing. So it has to be the 351W. Thats why Ford left the Thunderbird and is using the Taurus.

I think they are 'versions' of some engine they used in production in the past, but they aren't allowed to exceed 357 or 358 (can't remember which one) CID, so that counts out the 360, so maybe they use a shorter stroke version? That's the length of my knowledge, but I always heard the Ford's made the most horsepower, the Chevy guys said it on ESPN one time...lol
