I got the lastest flash but didn't get any #'s on the paperwork. Dosn't seem to fire up like it did. It used to really rev up in the morning. The shifting seems stiffer. Don't know about the MPH tracking it now. Seem like it has a little more kick.

If anyone can check vin 1FTNW21P13EB36365 03 F250 C/C

Jan Flash

I had my truck in for a oil change and flash to correct Dead pedal and erratic idle. 18000 miles first flash 03/03-build date. Engine is nosier. Mileage down was getting 15 to 16 average city 16 to 18 highways, once even 20 gpm now getting 14.0 gpm not to happy!!
Power appears to be the same. No problem with dead pedal or idle.
Thanks
Lance

The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

Hmmm. Emtabmm, my F250 was built week of 12/8/03. In the first 600 miles, 500 or so were across the desert at 75_80 mph, with about 100 around town. Average mileage was 17.1 (calculated, not the overhead readout).

After the trip, I took it to the dealer to check a 'clunk' that occurred when letting off the accelerator during any agreessive accelleration in the lower two gears. Sounded to me like something loose in the driveline or chassis. The service manager and the diesel mechanic told me it was normal; that it was a flapper like valve in the blower system to relieve the pressure build up when the blower is still pumping before it winds down when engine RPM's drop when I remove my foot from the accellerator. Don't know if I quite accept that explanation, but I can keep the clunk from happening by the way I drive. Caare to comment on this item?

But that't not my issue here. Since coming back from the dealership, around town, with about 30% freeway driving, and not driving with a heavy foot, my last tank mileage average dropped to 12.5 MPG. Seems like a big drop from before. I am wondering if the dealership didn't put a post-October flash in my engine without asking or telling me. I haven't had a real chance to test the T/H brake issue.

My VIN is 1FTNX20PI4EB69723. Can you check and tell if my engine has been flashed in early January?

Thanks.

just got the jan. flash part #307a12a650ftc file#vxam7n3 shift is firmer engine seams to run better , still sucks fuel down like crazy. best mpg. i have been able to get is 10.4 combined city and hwy. city only 8 mpg hwy only 12mpg empty. love everything about truck accept mpg. 2004 crewcab longbed 4x4. ford dealer says they hooked up there equipment to truck and drove it and they say it gets 14 mpg . i traded in 2000 model 7.3 that got 15 to 18mpg in city and 24 mpg on hwy if i could trade even up for old truck i would do it. cant even use the tow haul mode on new truck 4 to 6 mpg in tow haul mode. the bad thing is ford doesnt seem to care if you buy there trucks or not they are trying to tell me that its a 1 ton truck thats all you can expect. wonder what ever happened to honesty is the best policy.

Anyone have any idea when the fabled January 6.0 flash will arrive? Sounds like there’s nothing of interest to us in the recent flashes. I guess I have no more grounds to complain about mileage- I get 16 or so, but it is all HWY. My friends with 7.3s routinely get in the 20s, and I was told this one would do better. I'm afraid to take it back in, but I want to get everything looked at and on the record. I still have start problems, and the power is still down from when I test drove in August and September. I think I'll take it to the $50 dyno guy. If we can find out the power loss across the drivetrain (325hp is at the flywheel), we can demand the truck we thought we were buying. I don’t see how Ford can expect us to live with a 250 or 300 HP engine if they sold us a 325 HP engine. That’s a class-action product misrepresentation case.

I called the Ford Customer Assurance number as posted in a different thread and talked to one of the customer service reps. I expressed my concerns about the changes caused by the continued reflashes, and he documented them. He also asked for my VIN#, looked it up and said that this was the latest flash to address cold start and fuel milage. I can't be more adament, everyone needs to call to get there concerns documented. Don't go into great technical detail, explain it as a concerned customer.
The reason I called, as much as I don't like the dropped fuel millage and noise, is the elimination of tranny braking in 4th and 5th gear. This is, in my opinion, a safety hazard. I use my truck to haul my tractors and skid loader to and from my farm. With 10,000# on a trailer, it's much safer to control your speed by using the tranny and engine than by riding the brakes down a hill. The main reason I bought a Ford with the auto tranny is this feature, now it don't have it. I want it back.
