Check engine light on --- EGR valve?
After having my 1998 F150 checked out. I was told that my check engine light is one due to insufficient flow from the EGR valve. Does this need to be replaced, and if so, can I do this myself without paying around 150.00 for someone else to do it?

It might just be carboned up. Do a search on yahoo for "EGR valve cleaning". There is a port in the upper intake that gets carboned up and needs cleaned out after some miles are put on the engine. On my truck I had to remove the EGR valve and the the throttle body to get access to the upper intake EGR port so I could break the carbon loose and vacuum it out. You don't want those carbon chunks getting in you engine.

Go to the 97-03 forum and search for EGR.
It is a common problem aon these ans a lot of times it isn't the EGR valve, it is the PTFE sensor.
Post the actual code that you got and you will be guided in the right direction.
