A4ld late shift
Hey Everyone,
Found this sight by accident and it seems there is a huge wealth of knowledge here and I am hoping someoen can help me. I have a 89 Ranger with a 2.9/A4LD. The problem I amhaving is the transmission will not shift into 2nd until about 5000rpm's. Once it has shifted a couple of times like this it is just fine and shifts normal. All other shifts are perfect after it gets into 2nd. I am really confused on this one. I did replace the modulator valve hoping that would fix it but it didnt. I did not make any adjustments on the new valve. That will be my next step. Any help or advice here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to FTE!!!
I'm not familar with auto trannies but I'm sure someone will have some ideas and you could also try posting your question on our tranny board.
One thing I did think of is the TV cable, make sure thats adjusted properly.
