Natural Gas Conversion Removal

Working on a 1995 F-150 Pick -Up with a 4.9 and I am interested in removing the conversion kit. I have alot of fuel related codes and wish to get to the bottom of them. The natural gas portion of the vehicle is not used any more, however, it is still tied into the computer system and it makes simple adjustments impossible and codes are difficult to decifer due to the dual fuel. Do I have any worries when I am removing the system? It appears all the original wiring is still attached. I am hoping to remove and re-install the original stuff. Any comments are appreciated, maybe someone has been there done that?
Thanks,
David

You will probably need a chip to turn off the Natural Gas function within the ECM, otherwise it will continue to throw codes...That, or find an ECM that isn't programmed for dual fuels.

It appears the conversion has its own computer set-up? I am not 100% sure, however, I do see a box attached to the firewall that resembles a computer system? I do not see any splices or other things that may interfere, I am just concerned with unknown surprises. No one likes those. Especially with the codes I have pulled from this one. The diagnostic tree is at least 5 pages deep for one of the 3!

It may have it's own computer system...though I'm not to familiar with Nat Gas systems, but I would think that it would have to tie into your ECM in some way though.
It might not hurt to post this topic in the Computer Tuning section of this Forum.

If it has an MSD/Autotronic computer support you can generaly disconnect the connetors at the "box" then join them back together on th truck side thus bypassing the support. If you want to do a full removal you will probably have to trace the harness back and reconnect/resplice as needed. You will also need to check reset base timing after removal. I am not totally versed in natural gas, But I have done hundreds of LP conversions and they are simlar. Caution: Nat gas is stored under extremly high pressure, be very careful when working on fuel system. If this was a factory converison you may want to consult with Ford.

Hope this helps
