Well, with gas prices the way they are these days, its gotten me thinking about converting to natural gas. I have an 88 F150 351W. I have heard that you can switch from gasoline to natural gas with the flip of a switch. Anyone ever done this or researched it? What exactly would be involved? Cost ideas? Would there be a big power loss?
Any input is appreciated!
Thanks
Katt ,
Ford has had FFV Flexible Fuel Vehicles for ages . In fact my sister has a Tauras that runs on BBQ Juice . Lots of fleet vehicles use it as well . Im sure Ford has all the stuff available to convert your truck . As long as you dont mind having a big ol propane tank in the bed of your truck or spending the money to convert . I know we all think gas is $$$ here ... Just hang on awhile ...as soon as OPEC has made enough to buy another piece of the middle east to raise horses on , the price of gas will come back down ...My dad lives in Canada ... he has an F150 , dual tanks and at $3.38 / gallon that borders on truck payment prices to fill up . We still have the lowest fuel prices in the world .

I can't tell you the exact horsepower loss but I did switch a gas powered forklift to propane years ago and definetly could feel the loss. I'm guessing 10 to 15% H.P. reduction...
