Hi and welcome to FTE
They are basically good trucks. There are a few things that occasionally show up. The PCV hose failed on mine at around 30,000 miles.
A few have had sparkplugs pop out of the heads, but they are few and far between. Seems to be worse on the older models.
Use the 4x4 once a month or so to keep the solenoids from sticking (low range too). Just engage it for a minute to keep things moving.
I love my 01 and I think that most of us here are pleased with our trucks too.
Jimmy

I got 2 words for ya MATT KENSETH or Jack Roush, or my buddy, Mark Martin 6.
Ford went out as champions for the last Winston Cup season. Let's hope that they continue to kick booty in the new Nextel cup season. Sure don't sound right.

GO Martin, Go Martin!!!

Well so far I really like the pickumup no wind noise, lots of cabin room and drives/rides excellent. However our 01 Dakota quad cab with the 4.7, auto and 3.55 gears will run circles around the Ford. Is there a reliable and effective way of getting a little more out of it? I know the dodge is a little lighter but the Ford 5.4 has more rated power. How do I get it out of the 5.4?
